David Turnbull’s recent scoring form has been rewarded with a starting place in tonight’s Scottish Cup tie at home to St Mirren.

The former Motherwell midfielder came off the bench to score at St Johnstone last week, his third goal of 2023 and replaces Reo Hatate as Celtic look to book a place in the draw for the last eight.

With no midweek matches this month there is no need to rotate the squad with the bench looking as settled as the starting XI.

Ange Postecoglou is giving the cup and St Mirren full respect as he looks to advance in the only domestic competition to elude him last season.

Today’s match will be played to a finish, Steven McLean will referee the match with Scottish Tory leader Douglas Ross one of his assistants. VAR is in operation.

CELTIC: Hart; Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Starfelt, Taylor; McGregor, Turnbull, Mooy; Jota, Kyogo, Maeda
