Football Scotland was keen to promote today’s Micky Beale lie as the Ibrox boss shamefully disrespected St Johnstone’s 2021 Scottish Cup victory.

The digital arm of the Daily Record likes to think that they are all over everything in Scottish football but Saints fans among others won’t be fooled by their unconvincing makeover.

Beale was asked about the Union Bears banner at Livingston highlighting that their Tribute Act had only won two trophies in 11 years.

In reply the Ibrox boss claimed that it was two of the last four trophies which apparently puts his club in a good place.

Celtic have picked up two of the last four trophies with St Johnstone and the Tribute Act one each. Out of the last six trophies the Ibrox side have won two, the same as Celtic and the Super Saintees.

Beale likes to portray himself as a world expert on football, tracking Tom Davies and Todd Cantwell since they were 14 while he has been mentoring Livingston’s Jon Nouble since he played for Chelsea’s u-9 side.

No one at Beale’s media conference opted to correct him, when Football Scotland tried to push the lie even further they were quickly put right.
