The amazing sales plunge of the Sunday Mail

Sales of the Sunday Mail dropped to an average of 59,765 during January- that would be enough to give each of them a seat inside Celtic Park with a few spares left over.

With a cover price of £2.50 it seems that their once proud army of readers are deserting in their droves with 20% seeing the light over the last 12 months.

Things aren’t much better at the Daily Record with the dip below 60,000 inevitable with an average print sale during January of 61,883.

The Sunday Mail used to outsell their daily colleagues but with virtually no profile and a high cover price circulation has crashed ahead of industry averages.

Reach Group covers both of the Glasgow based titles as well as the Express and Daily Star, various local titles and digital names such as Football Scotland and Glasgow Live!

Pooling resources is the order of the day with the same names covering a number of titles with only the rate of decline to be determined, at current rates both the Record and Mail will have circulation figures starting with a 4 by the end of this year.
