After three months of Beale-mania it was back to reality with a bump today for the Deluded & Gullible.

Every media conference has been music to the ears of the Ibrox support as Giovanni van Bronckhorst took the blame for the failings since Ange Postecoglou restored the natural order to Scottish football.

Steven Gerrard and Gary McAllister were conveniently airbrushed out of the picture as were eight trophy failures out of nine.

On the training pitches at Murray Park Beale had been the brains of the operation with Liverpool, Chelsea and Brazilian football dropped into the discussion to add substance to someone in their first season in management.

Having led the fans to the top of the hill Beale now has to deal with the aftermath of all the hype.

Three of today’s starters are out of contract at the end of this season but more worryingly James Tavernier and Connor Goldson have signed long term contracts over the last 12 months.

Eight of the side that started today’s match lost to Celtic in the final of the 2019 League Cup, the rebuild has been put off and put off but this summer will require Beale to use both his brilliance and his imagination to the absolute max with Celtic looking like hoovering up even more honours.
