It was a fairly short and uneventful Celtic ‘career’ but whatever else he does in the game Oliver Abildgaard can always say that he wore the hoops.

Nine substitute appearances squeezed in before the World Cup break but one of them was in a stadium that eluded a few generations of Celtic players. The Dane made it onto the pitch in the Bernabeu, playing for the last 10 minutes of the Champions League tie.

It all comes to an end, before it even started. Despite my short period of time in the club, I have witnessed the truly special atmosphere at paradise, the incredible support from our fans and the beautiful values this club is based on.

Unfortunately for Abildgaard his time at Celtic coincided with a remarkable surge in form of Aaron Mooy.

The Australian was a bit of a slow burner but perhaps the arrival of another midfielder at the end the summer transfer window subconsciously took Mooy’s game up a notch or two.

Since the World Cup break the Socceroo has probably been Celtic’s most influential player, Abildgaard hasn’t been able to build on his nine substitute appearances and will now hope for better luck at Hellas Verona.
