Watch as Ange dismisses with utter contempt Beale’s attempt at mind games

Ange Postecoglou has resisted the temptation to respond to Michael Beale’s claim that there was a low probability of Celtic being overtaken in the SPFL title race.

The Celtic boss has been round the block enough times to know that what is said in a media conference might just vary to the message given out on the training ground and in the dressing room.

One defeat for Celtic could cut the gap at the top of the Premiership table down to six points- with two Glasgow derbies to come there would certainly be plenty to play for.

Beale is in his first season as a manager, if he thought that he was getting involved in mind games he picked the wrong victim in Postecoglou.

QUESTION: I just wanted to maybe touch on some of the comments that he heard from Michael Beale, I know that very often you guys won’t pay attention and focus on your own game but Michael Beale almost ruling it out, saying that the chances of catching you guys would be unlikely. Is that interesting or surprising that the Rangers manager said that?

After a moment or two of puzzlement and shaking his head..

Neither mate, I haven’t heard the comments, I think your original point is probably the most accurate- I just don’t pay any interest to it.

If Celtic can win their SPFL matches leading upto the April 8 Glasgow derby they will be in a very strong position to win a second successive title but until the gap is officially uncatchable there won’t be any celebrations inside Celtic based on opposition comments.
