Carl Starfelt will meet up with footballing royalty next week with Zlatan Ibrahimovic rejoining the Swedish international squad at the age of 41.
The Swedish legend sort of retired from international football in 2016 but made a brief return for last season’s World Cup play-off against Poland which proved unsuccessful.
A new set of European Championship qualifiers get underway next week with matches against Belgium and Azerbaijan.
Starfelt has only picked up five full international caps but will be hoping that at the age of 27 he can make an impact in the plans of Janne Andersson.
Due to the break for last years World Cup Sweden will be involved in a Euro 2024 qualifier away to Austria on June 20 which leaves minimal break time with the SPFL season starting on August 5/6.
Before he teams up with his international colleagues Starfelt will be looking to retain Celtic’s nine point lead in the SPFL with a home win over Hibs on Saturday.
