Ange Postecoglou reacts to Reo Hatate injury

Ange Postecoglou is still in the dark about the extent of Reo Hatate’s injury.

The midfielder pulled up in the 12th minute after making a routine pass, as soon as the Celtic physio reached him it was obvious that he would have to come off with David Turnbull an early substitute.

Hatate walked off the park unaided, going straight up the tunnel for treatment- the third Celtic midfielder in a week to get injured after knocks to Aaron Mooy and Tomoki Iwata.

It didn’t appear to be a major injury but the instant suspicion was a hamstring injury which rarely involves a quick recovery.

Listening to the Celtic manager on Sportsound, Football Scotland reports the Celtic boss saying:

I haven’t spoken to the medical team yet. Hopefully having a couple of weeks with no games will help. Disappointing to lose him early because he’s been a big part of what we do.

Without Mooy and Hatate and with Hibs playing a spoiling game today’s match was far from plain sailing for the hoops.

Hibs were reduced to 10 men after 24 minutes but took the lead in the 39th minute with a penalty from Dean Campbell.

The time wasting of the visitors saw eight minutes added, in the 52nd minute Jota levelled with a penalty awarded for a foul on Cameron Carter-Vickers.

Substitute Oh Hyeon-gyu headed Celtic in front in the 81st minute with Sead Haksabanovic adding a third in stoppage time.
