Ange Postecoglou has dismissed the various calls for reconstruction or in the case of Craig Levein ejection from the Scottish game.

Two seasons ago with Celtic in turmoil all seemed well with Scottish football with the media happy with the direction of travel.

In just over 18 months Postecoglou has put Celtic into a position of dominance with speculation that records could tumble before the season comes to an end.

This term Celtic have dropped five points in 28 games with just one SPFL defeat since September 2021.

David Martindale, Craig Levein and various talking heads have been giving their opinions on how to change the landscape, from the top of the Premiership table Postecoglou is decidedly unimpressed.

The Celtic boss told the Glasgow Times:

In terms of the broader discussion around Scottish football, if the suggestion is that the best way to improve is to take away the highest standard you have within the game, then I don’t believe that.

If you want to raise the standards then you try and attain the highest standard that already exists. So, try and build teams up to that rather than give everyone a lower bar.

Mate, I lived in Australia where there is a salary cap, where there is equalisation and, let me tell you, there is no one in Scotland that would enjoy that walk for one second.

With no actual plans on the table it looks like Ange will be ruling the roost into next season at least.

If everybody attained mediocrity and sevco always won, then the rest of Scottish football would be very happy! But like Chris Sutton says, you have to put them in their place!
