Another former SFA ref calls for retrospective Celtic red card

For the second time in just over a fortnight a former Scottish referee is wanting retrospective red cards issued for simulation- highlighting an incident involving a Celtic player.

Des Roache and Steve Conroy seem keen to carve out media careers, after setting up the GET INVOLVED REFEREE podcast with Lindsay Herron they seem to have caught the attention of Grosvenor Sport, a gambling firm.

Following the Viaplay Cup Final Roache was looking for Liel Abada to be punished retrosepectively, now following Celtic’s win over Hearts his side-kick Conroy has passed the baton to Conoy with Reo Hatate the new target.

Picking up on the podcast, Football Scotland reports Conroy saying:

We have advocated for some time that there should be a retrospective red card issued – and therefore a two-match suspension – for what was blatant cheating

The anomaly is that VAR can’t get involved because diving is not an ordering-off offence. Reo Hatate has been a terrific player in Scottish football but that was bad.

It’s a blight and it’s horrible to see and I don’t know why retrospective action is not being taken by the SFA for these offences – they seem to have stopped doing it.

It seems that little is being made of Andy Halliday’s late attack on Alistair Johnston just inside the penalty box that was missed by Kevin Clancy and not reviewed by Willie Collum on VAR

There is one set of Laws of the Game worldwide, the maximum punishment is a yellow card.

What is this you see diving nearly evergame celtic player does it cheating then if you know what team does it they are expecting the tackle and tried to avoid injury some people feel there team has lost the semi final before they cross the line that will build there confidence ?

  • Pan says:

    Oh I see!
They can just ignore the blatant diving that occurs with Govan based players.
Neither Hatate nor Abada dived. Just because you fall doesn’t mean you dived.
Might I suggest that these two so-called former officials are biased and trying to make a name for themselves.
    Utterly shameful.

  • Sean McGinley says:

Amazing how these part-time professional cheats can now spot cheating ? When did the change come about ? can’t hear these people because of the sound of their wailing ! …ooohh the pain !!!!
Ha Ha, Ha Ha, Ha ha ha ha ha ha, …Join in if you know the words.

Was this clowns eyes closed when sakala blatantly dived to try and con the referee , oh thats right ,they are blinkered when it comes to sevco but every celtic goal is forensically examined ,looking for every excuse to chop the goal off and keep sevcos slim hopes of the title alive !

  • Paul taggart says:

I dont see any mention of sakalas dive on sunday never even got booked by beaton

  • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

What a scummy football country – Hopefully Cyprus nick a point and Spain hammer Scotland in the international matches, they don’t qualify and then the less cash going to the rancid SFA the better !
