Callum McGregor starts for Scotland against Cyprus today with the midfielder the only current Celtic player in the matchday squad.

Tony Ralston was called up to the squad but Aaron Hickey starts at right-back with Nathan Patterson listed among the substitutes.

Former England u-21 keeper Angus Gunn takes over in goals from the injured Craig Gordon with former Celts Kieran Tierney and Stuart Armstrong in the starting XI, Hickey and Andy Robertson both left Celtic before signing professional contracts.

After missing out on the World Cup Finals in Qatar in the Play Off semi-final to Ukraine today’s match is the start of a fresh qualification campaign.

Twenty-three teams will join hosts Germany in the finals next summer which means that almost half of UEFA’s member nations will be involved.

After facing Cyprus today Scotland hosts Spain on Tuesday with Norway and Georgia making up the group with the top two nations qualifying automatically.

Scotland already have a Play Off secured, with Spain as favourites it looks like Steve Clarke’s side will need to get the better of Erling Haaland and Norway to avoid the Play Off route to the finals in Germany.
