Celtic’s apparent fears over losing Ange Postecoglou to Spurs have been eased tonight according to Keith Jackson of the Daily Record.

While nothing can ever be discounted the Celtic boss has given no indication of trying to find a way out of the club, after winning the Viaplay Cup Final he told the media that they’d be surprised by how long he’d be here (Celtic).

A regular feature of this season has been Scottish media outlets linking Postecoglou with EPL vacancies, the Spurs link has taken that a step further with Antonio Conte still in post.

After his weekend outburst following the draw at Southampton it seems only a matter of timing before Spurs are again looking for a new manager.

Quick off the mark the Daily Record has managed to both link and dismiss Postecoglou with the job as Jackson explains:

Celtic’s fears over Ange Postecoglou’s long-term future were easing as Brentford’s Thomas Frank emerged as a frontrunner for the Tottenham job.

Postecoglou was linked with the position on Tuesday as pressure intensified on Spurs boss Antonio Conte following his weekend rant, with reports in London claiming the Aussie was already high up on their shortlist. But we understand Ryan Mason is now likely to get the role until the end of the season if Conte is axed, giving chairman Daniel Levy breathing space to find a replacement.

Although Postecoglou remains in the mix, well-placed sources down south believe Frank to be Levy’s early Tottenham favourite. The Dane has been a smash hit at the G-tech Community Stadium since taking charge almost five years ago, leading Brentford into the top flight for the first time and now closing in on a possible European place.

Postecoglou remains on the 12 month rolling contract that he signed up to when he joined Celtic in June 2021.
