Over the last couple of days Celtic fans have been given tasters of the Kyogo Furuhashi documentary that was shown in Japan at the weekend.

The plan was clearly to follow the striker in the lead up to the World Cup Finals in Qatar followed by his impact on the international stage.

Clearly international boss Hajime Moriyasu wasn’t in on the plan, at 5am on a winter’s morning in Glasgow the Celtic striker discovered that Daizen Maeda would be the only Celtic player in the Japanese squad.

The clips shown so far have provided an interesting look at the reserved nature of Kyogo, contrasting with the hero worship that he gets from the Celtic support.

The adulation is most obvious in and around Celtic Park but a couple of words with bin-men in Buchanan Street and other well-wishers show the impact that the former Vissel Kobe striker has had in a distant European outpost.

Since the World Cup Finals Kyogo has been in top form, scoring the goals that have kept Celtic nine points clear at the top of the SPFL Premiership and retained the League Cup.

With two months left of this season Celtic fans will be hopeful that there are a few more goals, celebrations and chapters still to be written.
