The sickening toll of violence attached to the Glasgow derby plunged to new depths last night through Craig McPherson.

The moronic actions of the Union Bears and wealthy fans in corporate seats is well known with very little comment and even less criticism.

That peaked last April at Ibrox when Celtic physio Daniel Friel was struck in the head by a glass bottle thrown by Alan Crawford who is awaiting sentence. Crawford was watching the Sunday lunchtime kick-off from a hospitality seat.

Preparing for the start of the second half Joe Hart discovered glass in his penalty box, the incident escaped the notice of the police and stewards, even the Ibrox ground-staff who were in the penalty area at the time failed to notice the glass.

After the match the Celtic players had cups thrown at them as they celebrated with the 700 away supporters at Ibrox.

There are three more first team clashes between the two clubs before the end of this season.

Last night McPherson showed that the thuggery extends into the Ibrox coaching staff.

Enablers.
