Doing a brilliant job- major investor tells militant Ibrox fans told to back transfer guru Wilson

Ibrox fans have been told to stop moaning and protesting against Ross Wilson.

With Celtic laying down a marker for another treble the performance of the self-styled transfer guru has been put in the spotlight.

Joining the club in October 2019 from Southampton the pint- sized action man was the driving force behind the appointment of Giovanni van Bronckhorst and last summer’s spending spree.

Boosted by the transfers of Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey the club splashed £15m on Ridvan Yilmaz, Rabbi Matondo, Ben Davies and Antonio Colak. Lucrative contracts brought John Souttar and Tom Lawrence on board.

At the same time half a dozen stars are about to complete their contracts and move on but Stuart Gibson told the This Is Ibrox podcast that they should start appreciating the magic of Wilson in the transfer market:

Ross Wilson is doing a brilliant job. He doesn’t have ample resources to work with but he knocked it out the park with Bassey and Joe Aribo. They are massive home runs for the club.

There’s some signings made last summer we were unlucky with injuries and some of the players have yet to make their mark and get to know the fans but Ross Wilson has done an excellent job and continues to do so. I know in the dying days of Gio’s managerial reign with Rangers he was getting a lot of flak and it was extremely unfair.

Gibson is one of the Hong Kong investors that has had loads repaid over the past 12 months, he currently holds 9.45% of the shares in the company.
