On Thursday the SFA, SPFL and SWPL announced the launch of Scottish Football Marketing.

Over the weekend Viaplay Sports and the SFA separately uploaded highlights of Celtic’s 3-0 win over Hearts at Tynecastle.

To the surprise of no-one the Scottish Cup, the longest running competition in the country doesn’t have a sponsor. Despite gaining instant access to the eyes and wallets of a significant section of the population no company wants to be associated with Ian Maxwell, Rod Petrie and the committee kids at Hampden.

Other sports can find sponsors, the biggest sport in the country, one that attracts attendances bigger than the other sports aggregated can’t find a firm prepared to put their brand alongside the SFA.

By 5pm on Monday, two days after the final whistle at Tynecastle the two videos had been viewed 250,000 times on You Tube alone. Without any prompting, simply by football fans going to You Tube and being pointed towards the highlights.
