Nico Raskin will miss tomorrow’s home match against Dundee United putting his place in the Glasgow derby on April 8 at risk.

The chubby midfielder moved to Ibrox at the end of January from Standard Liege and has yet to play a full 90 minutes in the SPFL for his new club.

When he was named as a substitute for the Viaplay Cup Final against Celtic there was a furious backlash against Beale who brought on the dream team of Raskin, Todd Cantwell and Ryan Jack in the 64th minute of the match.

Raskin and Cantwell were expected to put Selik in their place in next week’s match but it is looking unlikely that the former Standard Liege man will be in the Starting XI a week tomorrow.

Covering today’s media conference the Daily Record reports:

Boss Beale has provided an injury update ahead of the game, with Raskin set to get the weekend off after pulling out of Belgian youth duty with an injury. Young defender King is also set to sit out the United game with a view to having them available the following week while Ianis Hagi, John Souttar and Ridvan Yilmaz have also got work into their legs over the international break. Beale said: We’ll be missing Raskin, he will be returning to training next week. Next week, Raskin and Leon King should be available so we will get two more bodies back.

On March 16 Raskin was rated touch and go for the match at Motherwell two days later, on the 17th he took a flight back to Belgium and was spotted with an influencer enjoying Pizza at Eurodisney a few days later.

Raskin did play 90 minutes against Raith Rovers on March 12 but it will be asking a lot of the Ibrox medical team to have him ready to start against Celtic in eight days time.
