From youngsters Niall McGinn and Si Ferry through to Ramon Vega and Harald Brattbakk there was one particular reason for being in Liverpool on Saturday afternoon.

A kick about at Anfield holds various attractions but playing in front of a lively travelling support isn’t on offer every weekend as the Legends get on with life post-Celtic.

Whether they are involved in coaching, the media or even flying planes like Brattbakk the days of being roared on and cheered by the fans is becoming a more and more distant memory.

The songs and chants of the support evolve, Kieran Tierney was probably first to cultivate the post-match rolling cheer with his mates in the Green Brigade but Kyogo Furuhashi is the current orchestrator with Oh Hyeon-gyu an enthusiastic assistant.

Saturday’s result wasn’t what was wanted, some dubious decisions from an assistant referee ensured that there wasn’t even a consolation goal but as they return back to life as former players this week there are some fresh memories for the Legends to draw on.
