Normally in broadcasting they like to have a split in opinions, a bit of debate usually makes for better viewing or listening.

Last week licence payers were denied the expert opinions of the BBC Scotland pundits as they slimmed down Sportscene, aware of the issues in England where most big name pundits spoke out in defence of Gary Lineker.

After a midweek peace deal it was business as usual, on Sportscene the gang was reunited to give a balanced and impartial overview of six SPFL Premiership fixtures.

Any licence payers looking for some debate and discussion among the Sportscene team were left disappointed with former Rangers stars Richard Foster and Neil McCann in complete agreement as former Rangers striker Steven Thompson steered them towards a penalty awarded at Celtic Park.

Finally in their 14th home game of the season the league leaders were awarded a penalty, after they had conceded their seventh penalty of the season to put Hibs in front. Celtic have lost 21 goals in the SPFL this season- seven of them from penalties.

Tuning in to Sportscene last night, The Sun reports:

Speaking on Sportscene, McCann said: “They got back into the game and I think it’s a soft penalty.

We’re going to highlight Paul Hanlon and Carter-Vickers and the only time he’s got any impeding on Carter-Vickers is at the very beginning but as they come round, watch Carter-Vickers hook his right arm around Paul Hanlon there and go down.

I don’t think that’s a penalty. Steven McLean isn’t even looking at it when he blows. He’s initially looking at it then he turns away then gives it.”

Foster added: “I agree with Neil. It’s very soft. Initially Hanlon isn’t looking at the ball and could impede him but I don’t know if the ball is in play at that moment but Neil is right, he then hooks his arm and uses that to spin off and then throws himself to the ground.

“For someone as big and strong as him, Hanlon has not thrown him to the ground, he’s thrown himself to the ground.”

While the penalties reign in on Celtic their city rivals haven’t conceded a penalty in the SPFL since January 2022- a run of more than 40 matches.

Next weekend there is no SPFL action as attention switches to the international side with Celtic next in action away to Ross County on April 2.

Just wondering why,in their expert analysis, not one of them cared to mention it should have been a throw in to Celtic instead of a penalty to Hibs.
The player taking the long throw clearly has one foot off the ground as he launches the ball into the Celtic box……But that doesn’t suit their hun agenda.
They can cry and bitch all they want while we pick up maximum points.
It’s about time the people in authority at Celtic Park had serious words with the SFA about the cheating that goes on in an industrial basis every matchday to keep their bloo favourites hanging on to our coat tails.
        Fuck the SFA.

  • Seppington says:

As I expected the moment I turned it on, absolutely fair and balanced opinions from 3 completely impartial ex-players of our biggest rivals.

    DEATH TO THE BBC

    • Tam57 says:

Why do you turn it on?????

      • Seppington says:

To see the highlights, as I was at work whilst the game was on and was too impatient to wait for the Youtube version (which is always edited suspiciously…you can’t win with these huns ensconced everywhere). They don’t get any licence fee from me, so at least I’m screwing them over whilst suffering through their biased crap!

  • Johnny says:

Imagine Match of the day studio manned by former players of one team commenting in a biased way on their biggest rivals?
    No ,neither can I .

  • Charles says:

The 3 stoogies. Watched sportscene last night and to say it was 110% biased towards one club and its ex players would be a huge understatement. Every match with an ex player in it was mentioned. The one and only truthful comment was made by the ex Partick leg end when he said Cantwell conned the ref into a red card. Looking at it he is 100% correct with his comment. It’s only took huns one month to train Cantwell up.

  • Redmond says:

A very fair and balanced panel put together by the very fair and balanced BBC. Absolute joke of a program and station, and the worst is that we are expected to pay for the priveledge of this garbage?!

  • John says:

The impartial BBC? What a joke. A crowd of EBT crooks and thieves, tax dodgers still getting a wee wage from Ibrox no doubt. What a pathetic corrupt organisation. So Hanlon was fouling him at first and was not even looking at CCV, their words, byut that means it is not a penalty? In what world? Oh, Ibrox world. Do these clowns know they are speaking out loud.

  • Scud Missile says:

Should the BBC eventually become a streaming service of some type the first part of the cost cutting will be the BIGOT presenters and pundits for the chop.
There is no way another organisation taking over is going to keep those PARASITES on draining the finances.

What’s a licence payer….its not a criminal offence to be without a licence.
