Showing their usual sense of perspective a year ago John Lundstram was being declared as the best on earth for reasons unknown.

Signed on a costly three year contract in the summer of 2021 the Scouser had been a long term target for Steven Gerrard, taking the Tribute Act to the next level and definitely signed to put Celtic in their place. As a bonus he had a scary stare.

Apparently Lundstram had an outstanding couple of months, pure loved the club and the adulation of the Gullible & Deluded.

While Ross Wilson managed to dupe Ajax into signing Calvin Bassey on the back of half a dozen energetic matches there were no takers for the former Sheffield United journeyman.

Reality has returned this season, even bears can see the Lundstram is very limited, being kind to him.

Some bears are claiming that he is carrying an injury, playing at 80% fitness and other excuses.

After 65 minutes plodding around Hampden on Sunday he was given the hook, with a lucrative contract running until May 2024 he won’t be part of any summer revamp to accommodate the Micky Beale Revolution.

A few hefty tackles against Celtic is all it takes. Immediate hero with accompanying rendition of unsavoury chants. Player goes all in with it, seldom lasts.
