Mikey Johnston as been named as a substitute for Ireland’s friendly against Estonia at the Aviva Stadium tonight.

The winger has been capped by Scotland at every level up to u-21 level but hasn’t been named in a full international squad.

An appearance off the bench tonight won’t commit him to Ireland but after undergoing the paperwork it is clear that his international aspirations are with the FAI rather than the SFA.

Johnston has had mixed success on loan at Vitoria Guimaraes in the Portuguese League, with his deal only lasting one season he has recently dropped out of their starting XI.

On Monday Ireland kick off their European Championship campaign at home to France, with Holland and Greece also in their group Stephen Kenny’s squad could hardly have drawn a tougher group.

Brighton teenager Evan Ferguson makes his full international debut tonight with the emphasis on youth as Kenny looks to qualify for next years European Championship Finals in Germany.
