Not been a great two or three days for Rangers and Celtic- McCoist reacts to Alonso attack

Ally McCoist has opted to lump Craig McPherson’s attack on Fran Alonso with the ‘missiles’ aimed at Steven Gerrard during Saturday’s Legends game at Anfield.

It is an incredible comparison with no reports or suggestions over the Anfield incident where a couple of paper cups were thrown at the former England captain as he raced to celebrate enthusiastically in front of 4,000 Celtic fans.

Anything being thrown onto a football pitch is wrong but headbutting an opposing coach is on a completely different scale, it is doubtful if McCoist has ever witnessed it in over 40 years in the professional game.

The former Scotland striker was involved in one infamous incident with Neil Lennon in 2011, although tempers were raised there was no contact between the two men on the touchline at Celtic Park.

Listening to McCoist’s radio discussion this morning The Sun reports:

Asked by co-host TalkSPORT Laura Woods if McPherson’s behaviour was acceptable, he said: “I have only just seen it. It’s really, really poor.

“With the greatest of respect, it’s not been a great two or three days for Rangers and Celtic, with what happened at the weekend and what happened last night.”

Woods added: “The weekend was the missiles right?”

McCoist replied: “Yes, very poor, very poor.”

Police Scotland and the SFA are now investigating last night’s incident.

Celtic really need to get involved in a European league and out of wee-free Scotland … and even if sevco are involved too .., they wouldn’t last long if relegation was involved …. all those players sent off in the Real world … and no penalties for and real ones against would take its toll ..

I would just like the other inquiries to finish first before we start another inquiry.. one person is accused of throwing the bottle that injured a member of the CELTIC staff,we have been told that the CCTV wasn’t working how was he identified, in place of the CCTV we could use the TV , but only if you want to catch people, after the goings-on at ibroks this latest one is small change….glass on the park, weapons placed in the ground, missiles thrown at fans and players “after” the game

Not been a great couple of decades for the old wangers and sevco!
Tam above has mentioned some of the skum behaviour from the rotten sevco support but they’ve somehow managed to grab the headlines-for all the wrong reasons…again!!!
Just a few days ago that same skum support were up in arms about some paper/plastic cups flung in the direction of manchild sg…pathetic both sevco & Steve g

What a wee sh1te this man is. Can’t condemn anything associated with that rancid club

I mean, it’s a problem for McCoist. He’s an apologist for his OB pals at Ipox. He hasn’t a truthful bone in his body. He has all the excuses. Gerrard is a failed EPL winner, oops I slipped boss. Bang went 25/40 million in revenue when he slipped. So paper cups were thrown. What about the broken bottles at Ibrox in Joe Harts penalty area.
You’re a snivelling excuse for a man. Sucking up to his masters in the OL, little obscene coward. I’ll be looking at the rangers game reports by you Ally Pally and looking for the crime of throwing a paper cup.
You might be jack the lad down south, but you’re just a wee runt in Scotland.
