Alan Muir will referee Wednesday’s match between Celtic and Hearts.

The Aberdeen based referee seems to have drifted away from the high profile fixtures with Wednesday’s match just his second Celtic match of the season, the other being the 4-0 win away to Hibs at the end of December.

Muir has been a regular on VAR duty with that task falling to Nick Walsh on Wednesday night.

The Bearsden based PE teacher was in charge of the last meeting between the two clubs which turned out to be a VAR led explosion of controversy.

Hearts were awarded two penalties after Steven McLean told Walsh to check the monitor, strangely, soon after the first Hearts penalty there was no second opinion sought when Michael Smith handled a pass from James Forrest.

Robbie Neilson usually finds some form of controversy in matches against Celtic, back in August Hearts had two players picking up second booking in the closing minutes which upset their manager.

Steven Kirkland will be the fourth official at Wednesday’s match, tomorrow the SFA are expected to announce the referee for Saturday’s Scottish Cup tie between the two clubs at Tynecastle.

Hearts goalie should have walked for shocking challenge on maeda I hope he plays in cup game and sticks three past you it was a stamp then you vain injury by rolling about if your hurt there know way you roll around hope clancy keeps the game on the move goalkeeper kick out I’m surprised via play dosent stick an advert or two in hearts been at home they will still be waisting time that’s why they can’t sell their tickets

Why referees can’t go into each dressing room or say to each goalie I’m watching by kicks don’t go walk about for the ball or chasing after your players edge of area telling them some crap just to slow game up seen it at celtic Park from the first minute walking to take a shy they are professional foot ballers walking 20metres to take a throw in its unprofessional and shows no respect for referees fans are sick of it I’ve seen teams doing it 1 or 2 down aberdeen done it livingstone do it refs get control of it show who’s boss
