A report in the Daily Record has claimed that Greg Taylor has been playing with a ‘lower leg issue’.

The defender was put in the spotlight when he was left out of the Scotland squad for the double-header with Cyprus and Spain, Steve Clarke explained that it was an issue for Celtic to elaborate on.

Taylor has been a regular third choice left-back under his former Kilmarnock boss, always making himself available even when there has been little prospect of seeing any game time.

There has been no comment from Celtic about the issue but in the Daily Record the well informed Scott Burns claims:

Gutsy Greg Taylor has been playing through the pain barrier to help keep Celtic’s Treble charge going.

The left-back has been struggling with a lower leg issue but has been managing it in a bid to help Ange Postecoglou’s side get through this vital stage of the season. The 25-year-old has nailed down the left-back slot at Celtic and has been a big player for the champions.

Taylor has been troubled by the injury for a couple of weeks and the Hoops medical team have been keeping on top of it and giving him regular treatment.

The defender was left out of the midweek league win over Hearts to make sure he was fit for the weekend Scottish Cup quarter-final win over the same opponents.

Celtic play Hibs at the weekend and after that it should allow Taylor to rest up before the return against Ross County on April 2nd.

Taylor picked up an injury away to Hibs on December 28 and had to be substituted after 21 minutes of the Glasgow derby on January 2.

Since returning to action away to Dundee United on January 28 he has played in eight matches, only missing the 3-1 midweek win over Hearts.

After Saturday’s home match against Hibs Taylor will have a 15 day break before Celtic travel to Ross County on April 2.
