John Carver has delivered an incredible attack on the Oriam Training facility preferred by the SFA.

In a bid to justify another of their pet projects the SFA shifted the Scotland national team through to Edinburgh to use Oriam as their training base.

Using the M8 at 5pm to travel through to Hampden Park wasn’t the smartest of moves but it seems that the actual training surface was a major problem.

This week Scotland are training at Lesser Hampden while the surrounds are being rebuilt with the very real prospect of Premiership football next season.

Steve Clarke’s priority is getting his squad ready to face Cyprus and Spain but leaving Oriam behind seems to be a big step in the right direction.

Listen, with all due to respect to Oriam, the surface there was a safety hazard in my eyes.

While it looked good on the eye – you guys were there quite often and you only saw us working in small area.

But for some reason the surface would just give way so for the guys who were training on it, for me it was a safety hazard, a health risk.

I’m surprised we didn’t get any really serious injuries from it, particularly the pace and tempo that these guys were playing at.

And are playing at now. It was a big concern, a huge concern. We were having to curtail the training sometimes.
