Last night’s win over Spain was a welcome distraction from the SFA but in the digital age their inaction has already gone global- at the worst possible time.

Yesterday a variety of UEFA delegates and officials were in Glasgow for a European Championship qualifier, any viewing of local social media would have one story screaming out at them above all others #’trending.

Birthday boy Craig McPherson was all across Twitter for most of the day, not through action from his club or the SFA but these days suppressing the news is virtually impossible.

Worst of all for the SFA was the presence of the Spanish media, some of whom might have wanted to get the lowdown on Scotland with Fran Alonso before the sickening events of Monday night.

Alongside a video of the head-butt renowned Spanish title Marca reports:

After the match between Glasgow Celtic and Glasgow Rangers women’s football. Assistant coach Craig McPherson headbutted Spanish coach Fran Alonso from behind. Police Scotland has already announced that it has opened an investigation into the event and Rangers is also dealing with it internally.

Imagine the reaction of Scottish media outlets if a Scottish coach working with Real Madrid Ladies was head-butted in a derby match against Atletico while they were over to cover an international match?

With no action coming from the SFA yesterday it will be business as usual for McPherson at Murray Park today.

All this talk up of Angus Gunn as the number 1 goalkeeper for Scotland now constantly pushed out there and I thought there had to be a reason behind it as it was to much in our face.

Well the answer is out there now sevco are being linked with him lol there had to be a catch about the song and dance made about him in the press.

Spain has decades of experience of hunnish thuggery. Scotland’s shame from boardroom to the fan on the street. I don’t do Twatter but #SHUTTERIBROX

Had a quick look at the sevco fc website this morning:2 days after the incident.

According to their Match Report, nothing happened after the CFC equaliser.

And still no statement about McPherson.

It seems that – officially anyway – nothing untoward happened against CFC.

Can’t quite believe that McPherson is still not suspended:

what sort of message does that send out about the Ibrox club?

Unsurprisingly, the normally chatty Beale is not commenting.

“Everyone Anyone” – except for those targeted for a cowardly headbutt from behind,

    from a sevco coach.

    “Permanent disgrace” FC. 🙁

How predictable no mention in Scottish press but rest of Europe takes up the story

  • John Copeland says:

There are rumours suggesting this assault may end up in court ! Imagine that ,the Rangers in court …Now there’s a surprise !

  • J.P. Docherty says:

Not condoning the lack of apparent inaction from Glasgow’s second rated club but they have to be careful what they say and do due to litigation threats. Thought that STV’s blanking of it on their mainline 6 o’clock bulletin last night though was inexcusable.
