On Thursday evening Craig Moore was explaining to Daily Record readers why Scott McTominay will be at Ibrox next season.

Following that up would be a tough task but Barry Ferguson is the man for a big job, this morning he wants Douglas Park to throw the kitchen sink at Brighton to bring Billy Gilmour home.

Not only would Micky Beale be signing the best midfielder in the UK but he could quickly be sold for pyoor mullyins with everyone a winner.

Should Gilmour and McTominay join the all star midfield built around Todd Cantwell, Nico Raskin and £5m signing Malik Tillman it would be a waste of time for Ange Postecoglou to turn up next season.

As back up Beale could call on John Lundstram, Ryan Jack and Glen Kamara to cushion the blow of releasing Steve Davis and Scotty Arfield.

April could well be a bleak month for Ibrox fans, just as season ticket renewal letters go out but the Daily Record can always be relied on for good news stories.

After painting a tragic picture of how Chelsea, Norwich and Brighton have neglected Gilmour Ferguson tells Record readers about the perfect solution:

Discussing Gilmour’s position at Brighton, Ferguson tells Daily Record readers:

It looks to me as if an honest conversation is now required between the manager and the player. If Billy is not going to get game time next season then he has to start planning ahead for a big decision this summer. And, if I was in charge of recruitment at Rangers, I’d be throwing the kitchen sink at trying to give him something to think about. They’d be crazy not to give it a shot.

Look, it might be too rich for my old club’s blood. I’m not sure if they could match the fee Brighton will demand and they’ll certainly struggle to pay the same level of EPL wages. But it’s not about making top dollar right now. It’s about what’s best for Gilmour’s career. If he got the chance to showcase his quality week in, week out at Rangers he’d wouldn’t just play his way back into Clarke’s starting XI for the Euros – he’d be able to take his pick when it came to his next big transfer somewhere down the line.

Last season Gilmour started 21 matches and Cantwell five in the EPL as Norwich were relegated with just five wins and 22 points from 38 matches, 16 points behind Leeds United who stayed up thanks to a final day win at Brentford.

Steve Clarke used eight midfielders across the wins over Cyprus and Spain, Gilmour wasn’t one of them. Callum McGregor, John McGinn, Stuart Armstrong, Ryan Christie, Jack, Scott McTominay, Kenny McLean and Lewis Ferguson all added to their cap total.

They could always use an EBT to cover his wages.

Why are we being asked by the substandard level of investigative journalism of the daily record to even consider this more than unlikely option.
There is absolutely no chance of them signing players of this prominence and their lack of a scouting structure indicates that they will be targeting the free agent or loan market.

Editor: These stories provide a warm, comforting feeling for Record readers afraid to look at the SPFL Premiership table.

Wording is Best midfielder in UK, Gilmour had his chance to be someone but became no one, Nice to see Barry is game for a laugh, Keep up the fairy stories Barry, they put me to sleep instantly.

Would this be the same NewCo Rangers that consistently refused to play Gilmour when he was there, despite the clamour for him to play, and then let him go for peanuts when his contract was up? Yeah they really did a lot to bring his career on, didn’t they Barry? Bet he can’t wait to get back up the road for more of that kind of career development. Not sure what he will learn that will advance his Scotland prospects, training with duds like Kamara, Matondo and Sakala, or warming the bench for John Lundstram or Ryan Jack. Or has Gilmour also developed a real hardman stare to compete with Lundstram’s, that might see him picked over the Scouse Zidane? Because obviously that trumps things like skill, fitness, talent and ability on the football pitch. At least in Barry’s empty head.
