Craig Hagi McPherson had a birthday that he’ll never forget yesterday, probably one that he will never recover from.
At 7.05pm, shortly before kick-off at Broadwood Hagi was wished a Happy Birthday by the ‘Rangers Ladies’ Twitter account, a couple of hours later he was trending on social media and featuring on a loop with Sky Sports News.
A fairly anonymous career through Morton, Falkirk and Dumbarton was suddenly centre stage following a 1-1 draw in the televised SWPL Glasgow Derby.
While Fran Alonso congratulated players from both sides after a dramatic and emotional 90 plus minutes Hagi had other thoughts on his mind. What Bill Struth would have made of his non dignified actions is probably best not published.
Last night there was silence from Hagi’s club, the SFA and Police Scotland over the shameful attack watched by thousands.
The morning after he blew out the candles is likely to be one of dread for the 52-year-old Ibrox coach.
