VAR takes a break from big decisions at Celtic Park and Easter Road

VAR continued in its very selective ways tonight as Celtic maintained their nine point lead at the top of the SPFL Premiership.

At Celtic Park the visitors netted in the sixth minute through Josh Ginnelly with the assistant linesman flagging for offside.

A lengthy VAR checked followed, the goal stood with some inconclusive VAR images released five minutes later with thick lines drawn from a distance. It seems that Scottish VAR doesn’t have the ability to go 3-D to highlight the most marginal of decisions.

Nick Walsh was on VAR duty.

Over at Easter Road Tavpen does what Tavpen does, netting in 12th minute after a Connor Goldson OG had given Hibs the lead.

David Dickinson, who got three penalty decisions wrong at the St Mirren v Celtic on Sunday, watched the penalty and failed to spot the clear encroachment of Fashion Sakala.

On Tuesday night Chelsea were awarded a penalty retake after Borussia Dortmund players had encroached into the penalty box.
