It seems that there will be a place for Allan McGregor in Micky Beale’s brave new world at Ibrox.

Slowly but surely the signals are getting sent out that there will be no major overhaul in the summer with Beale claiming that he can stoap Selik on a budget.

It looked to be all over for McGregor last season when he was brought on for the last few minutes of the Scottish Cup Final win over Hearts but a few weeks later he was signing another 12 month contract.

Jon McLaughlin started the new season in goals but after losing four goals to Celtic and Ajax he discovered an injury with McGregor returning to the side.

The veteran keeper turned 41 in January, the following month his complete refusal to come off his goal-line was exposed at Hampden as Kyogo Furuhashi scored twice from close range to give Celtic the Viaplay Cup.

Robbie McCrorie has been touted as the emerging goalkeeping star of Ibrox but another deal for McGregor will condemn the 25-year-old for the same level of mediocrity as his brother Ross at Aberdeen.

McGregor is still a decent keeper who still saves them at least 10 points a Season and in Europe even more.
I’m not suprised he’s getting another 12 months but surely not as the first choice every week due to his age?
We all know if they could afford a quality replacement that they would and he would be off to a lower level somewhere else or perhaps even a 3rd choice backup in the EPL at a Club with more money than sense.
I fancy they will get a Loan Keeper and offload a wage to offset the bank balance.

McGregor is a bigoted thug and domestic abuser who should be nowhere near Scottish Football.
Being at Sevco gives players a cloak of invisibility, on these issues, from the SMSM and Poleas Alba.
Nothing to see here. Move along there.
