Highlighting just how out of touch they are BBC Scotland decided to produce a podcast to explain the financial differences between Glasgow’s two SPFL Premiership clubs.

While the state broadcaster bundles the clubs together at every opportunity the reality is very different.

One club consistently runs at a profit, delivers huge commercial deals and has been selling players to the top five leagues for a decade.

The other has been posting losses of around £10m a year covered by director loans which are converted into shares, is constantly losing legal battles and except for three deals in 2022 have failed to develop a Player Trading Model with seven first team players about to become free agents.

The credentials of Tom English and Kenny Macintyre are beyond satire, whatever the news out of Ibrox they can be assured of putting a positive spin on it topped off with an O** F*** label.

Back in 2011 English was Craig Whyte’s leading cheerleader, backing the former billionaire from Motherwell even after the Daily Record had wizened up. Whatever message Whyte wanted to get out Succulent Tam would be sharing with Scotsman readers while he worked his way into a staff job at BBC Scotland.

Macintyre asks the tough questions that fans want answered whenever he discusses Celtic, Aberdeen or Hibs. Anything Ibrox related and he’ll be asking Barry, Boydy, Neilly (McCann), big (Steven) Thommo or Alex Rae about the great nights out they had back in the day. To vary the questions he’ll ask ‘that mist have been some dressing room, eh?’

For expert opinion the state broadcasters brought in Kieran Maguire which highlights the complete lack of talent inside the staff heavy BBC. Maguire has taken on the role previously filled by Neil Patey of explaining why every piece of bad news from Ibrox is actually an encouraging sign.

Things might be bad at the moment but when the Hummel court ruling is added to the Memorial Garden, the Wifi bill and pulling out the Australian tour Micky Beale might find that his unlimited transfer war-chest has dramatically shrunk.
