Celtic’s first opportunity to clinch the SPFL title will be at Tynecastle according to a report in The Sun.

The SPFL knew last week that there were only two possible scenarios for the top six with St Mirren pipping Livingston for the place on Saturday.

Despite having Sunday to rubber stamp the post split fixtures Monday came and went without any announcement of where Celtic will be playing in the first weekend in May.

This morning David Friel of The Sun reported:

CELTIC could get the chance to clinch the Premiership title at Tynecastle in their first top-six fixture on the weekend of May 6/7.

SPFL chiefs are set to announce the full post-split list today after talks with clubs and TV bosses.

SunSport understands the Hoops are expected to start at Hearts on the King’s Coronation weekend – with just a tiny band of away fans hoping for a title party.

Discussions were also held with cops over the date for the final Old Firm Premiership clash of the season at Ibrox.

It looks likely that Rangers will host Celtic on the weekend of May 13/14 – the second round of fixtures.

Friel has deep connections at Celtic, in February 2021 he announced Neil Lennon’s departure as manager before the Stock Exchange was informed.

Celtic are due a third home match against a top six rival, if the Tynecastle story is true it means that Aberdeen or Hibs will be making a third trip to Celtic Park with St Mirren likely to be visitors on the final day of the season.
