On the back of two defeats from their last three months, during a month that has seen the Chairman, Sporting Director and Managing Director walk away alongside two unexpected share issues BBC Scotland has opted to present a picture of progress from Ibrox.

Kenny Macintyre, Alastair Lamont, Tom English and Jane Lewis are always on call for good news stories but yesterday Brian McLaughlin was sent along to put a positive spin on the depressing news out of Murray Park.

Micky Beale has been linked with a number of out of contract and injured Championship flops since the defeat at Aberdeen with the state broadcaster happy to apply some sheen to the recent defeats and Blue Room departures.

For BBC Scotland, die-hard Hearts fan McLaughlin reports:

Manager Michael Beale believes there is “harmony” and “progress” behind the scenes at Rangers no matter the result in Sunday’s Scottish Cup semi-final.

Beale has yet to taste victory in an Old Firm match as Ibrox manager, with the side winless against city rivals Celtic since last season’s semi-final.

Rangers have made changes to their chairman, chief executive and sporting director roles in the last few weeks.

“There is a lot of harmony behind the scenes,” Beale insisted. “There have been changes in the club structure and that’s ongoing, but I am super positive about the future.”

He can always count on the state broadcaster for super positive coverage whatever the reality is.

And if you believe anything that comes out of the mouth of Micky Beale, you ought to be locked up!

There are two ways of looking at that piece. He seems to me to be drawing attention to the contradictions in Beale’s comments. Is he being sycophantic or is there a dry wit being utilised?

    Yes that right
