Even by their own standards Mad Mal was just a bit too bonkers to give airtime to tonight on Radio Clyde’s Super Scoreboard.

Trying to unload half a dozen conspiracy theories in one call was a tough ask but Gordon Duncan gave him generous airtime before realising that the Irishman might head into dangerous territory.

Apparently Celtic have been getting away with it all season, VAR has been saving their bacon and they were scraping by on results either side of European matches.

***I’m sick and tired, I mean, when is Celtic going to be, Dundee United, I think that they beat them 9-0 or something right

***Now their form dropped, their heads are being held just above the water by VAR

***I’m telling you now, it’s an exclusive- they are on a hiding to nothing

***Somebody is going to beat them 2-0, 3-0, 4-0 you name it

***They are on a hiding and VAR is keeping their wee heads above the water and I’m sick and tired of it

***Listen, it’s coming, just to warn them all out there, it’s coming you’ll be on the end of a defeat

***With a wee bit of lateral thinking you watch all the games leading up to European games, ok? They are not convincing winners before and after a European game.

Mal was blown a little off course when he was reminded that Celtic went into their opening Champions League group match on the back of a 4-0 win in the Glasgow Derby.

Undeterred he was pulling more rabbits out of hats, something about consortium pay-backs proved to be enough as presenter Gordon took hold of the call as Mal sulked back to the message-board that he had sourced his information from.
