For the second Derby match this month Jota proved to be Celtic’s matchwinner.

In the SPFL the Superstar from Portugal capitalised on mistakes from John Souttar and Allan McGregor to slide in Celtic’s third goal of the day.

Similar instinct was at play today, as three Ibrox defenders switched off Daizen Maeda pinged the ball across goal with Jota timing his run perfectly to head home the only goal of the game.

That goal came in the 42nd minute at the end of a 10-15 minute spell of Celtic pressure.

Throughout the second half Celtic were on the back foot but there wasn’t too many desperate moments as Cameron Carter-Vickers held the defence together to keep the prospect of an equaliser at a minimum.

Midway through the half Jota was replaced by Sead Haksabanovic, watching nervously from the sidelines before the explosion of joy that greeted the final whistle from Don Robertson.
