On Sunday at Hampden more than a place in the final of the Scottish Cup is at stake.

Throughout the pain of the last decade the Gullible and Deluded have had the farcical notion that they are the World’s Most Successful Team.

The Tribute Act took the delusion on board, splashing the slogan around Murray Park and Ibrox in the sound knowledge that once their journey had been completed the old 50-50 record of sharing honours would be restored.

In 2016 as Mark Warburton reached their destination Celtic hadn’t even reached 100 domestic trophies, cup competitions were constant problems for Neil Lennon and Ronny Deila, Celtic had just three trebles to their name, the last coming in 2001 under Martin O’Neill.

Incredibly, in full view of James Tavernier Celtic completed an invincible treble, followed by a double treble and so it continued.

Should the hoops win on Sunday they will be within touching distance of an eighth treble and one trophy more than Rangers, stuck in time since 2012 awaiting the final LIQUIDATED stamp from BDO.

A win for Micky Beale’s side on Sunday will buy some breathing space but seeing Celtic overtake the joint trophy tally of both Ibrox clubs will be another fateful blow- ranking up the pressure on the board and management at Ibrox.

One fan wants to copyright ‘We Welcome The Chase’ perhaps adding the 2016 Petrofac Trophy alongside the 1972 Cup Losers Cup would be a more credible move.
