Anthony Joseph has claimed that a number of EPL clubs are interested in signing Carl Starfelt.

The defender is halfway through his four year Celtic contract after being signed from Rubin Kazan on the same day that Kris Ajer left to join Brentford.

Whenever he has been fit Starfelt has been a starter under Ange Postecoglou but mainly on the left side of central defence rather than his preferred position of on the right.

Postecoglou has taken a very pragmatic approach to transfers, in January Josip Juranovic and Giorgos Giakoumakis were sold with their replacements already signed up and playing in games.

Covering Celtic’s title success on Sky Sports, Joseph claims:

A number of clubs from the English Premier League and across Europe are interested in Carl Starfelt.

His current deal expires in the summer of 2025 and if they do decide to sell, they have a replacement already in Yuki Kobayashi, who was signed from Vissel Kobe in January.

In the past the sales of Kieran Tierney and Moussa Dembele meant major disruption at Celtic with little sign of forward planning in the transfer market.

During Postecpglou’s first transfer window he had to deal with the departures of Ajer, Ryan Christie and Odsonne Edouard but the August 31 arrivals of Jota, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Giorgos Giakoumakis proved to be inspirational as the hoops won the SPFL title.
