Alistair Johnstone has paid his respect to David Wotherspoon after his 10 year St Johnstone career was ended today.

In their long and proud history if you were to spend a decade in Perth it would tie in with Wotherspoon who leaves St Johnstone with two Scottish Cup and one League Cup winners medals.

A serious knee injury suffered in the League Cup Final defeat to Celtic in November 2021 had an ominous feel about it but the midfielder battled back to earn a place in Canada’s World Cup squad, coming off the bench to play 15 minutes of the group match against eventual semi-finalists Morocco.

With his Celtic transfer almost rubber stamped Johnston would have been quizzing his international team-mate about what to expect from life in the SPFL.

Whatever was said few players have made an impact on Celtic as quickly as Johnston who’ll be looking to add to his own medal collection on Saturday when the hoops take on Inverness Caley Thistle at Hampden in the final of the Scottish Cup.
