Ange makes big Easter Road confession

Ange Postecoglou is taking the blame for Celtic’s 4-2 defeat at Hibs.

The hoops boss described the last half hour as chaotic with 11 minutes of added time confirming that belief.

Daizen Maeda was red carded, Jake Doyle Hayes had a red rescinded after Andrew Dallas prompted Kevin Clancy to review the foul with a penalty and Scott Bain howler turning the game in favour of the home side.

Postecoglou made six changes to the side that drew at home to St Mirren with much of their trademark pressing in evidence as they led 1-0 at half time.

Under pressure in the second half the Celtic defence wilted, Bain had been their best player but that was wiped away in the 80th minute when he fumbled a long range shot from Elie Youan to gift the home side the lead.

Speaking to Radio Scotland after the match Postecoglou said:

This is on me, I’m making lots of changes and playing guys who haven’t played in a long time and in many ways, that’s unfair on them but that’s just my way of doing things.

So, do you want us to win the league by 20 points next season, then? I get the question, but if you want to measure us on the last three games then you’ll probably be needing a different manager as well.

This squad has handled the Champions League, is in the final of a cup competition, won another cup competition and won the league… we will strengthen as we always do.

If people want to make assumptions that we won’t be as strong next year, that’s great, and probably in our favour.

Celtic complete their SPFL programme at home to Aberdeen on Saturday then prepare for the Scottish Cup Final on June 3 against Inverness Caley Thistle at Hampden.
