Micky Beale has had to plead with his board of directors to meet the pay demands of Jack Butland.

The Crystal Palace keeper will be a free agent next week with Beale on the lookout for Allan McGregor’s replacement.

At the age of 30 and as a free agent Butland knows that he can call the shots on his next deal- and will be aware of the wages that Kemar Roofe, John Lundstram and Todd Cantwell are picking up.

Beale is reported to have eld more talks tonight and is looking to have most of his transfer business completed by June 30 when pre-season training gets underway.

The main English edition of the Daily Mail reports:

Crystal Palace goalkeeper Jack Butland, on loan at Manchester United, held talks with Rangers on Tuesday evening as he looks to finalise a move.

The Scottish Premiership runners-up are keen to bring in a new number one in the summer as Michael Beale looks to reignite a title clash with Celtic next season.

Butland is out of contract at Selhurst Park in June and is preparing for a move to the Scottish giants as his time in English football comes to an end.

The 30-year-old is eager to secure more minutes after failing to make a single first-team appearance for either United or Palace during a disappointing season for the former England international.

His salary demands initially rocked a potential move to Ibrox, however a compromise has been reached on personal terms with Butland set to join Rangers as a free agent.

Head coach Beale stressed the importance of bringing Butland to the club given the Englishman’s Premier League and Championship experience.

It seems like experience of playing in the Championship is critical for all of Beale’s transfer targets.

Butland hasn’t played a minute of competitive football this season.
