The good news seems never ending for bears with Ije Ugbo the latest target for a place on board the Micky Beale Revolution.

A stint in the Chelsea Academy which Beale left in 2012 is the link with the striker who was out on loan at Barnsley, Scunthorpe, Cercle Brugge and Roda before moving to Genk on a permanent basis in 2021.

According to Transfermarkt Ugbo has scored just two goals this season but that seems to be enough to make him a contender to replace Alfredo Morelos.

Late on Thursday The Sun reported:

RANGERS are on the trail of Troyes striker Ike Ugbo.

Ibrox boss Michael Beale knows the player from his time at Chelsea and is keen to bring him to Glasgow.

But Gers will have to fight off competition from Premier League new boys Burnley, who are also keen on the 24-year-old attacker.

England-born Canada cap Ugbo had several loan spells, including at Barnsley and Brugge, before joining Belgian side Genk in 2021. He was farmed out to French side Troyes just five months later and made the move permanent last summer.

Ugbo penned a four-year deal with the Ligue 1 side and it’s understood they value him at around £3.5million.

Beale is desperate to bolster his attacking options following the Ibrox exits of Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent.

The fee of £3.5m and a contract that runs until 2026 should see interest turn to Oli McBurnie who is out of contract with Sheffield United.

On Wednesday Kieran Dowell was announced as Beale’s first summer signing.
