Breaking News! Sky Sports play catch-up on Ange Postecoglou story

Sky Sports have been running with a Breaking News story about Spurs stepping up their interest in Ange Postecoglou following Saturday’s Scottish Cup Final.

The story seems very similar to the one that Dan Fitzpatrick produced in The Standard, the London freesheet found around Train and Underground stations.

In truth there is nothing new to the story other than linking Postecoglou with Scott Munn, the Australian that is about to become the Chief Football Officer at Spurs.

At the weekend Postecoglou made it very clear in a number of media interviews that his entire focus is on winning the Scottish Cup for Celtic to complete a clean sweep of domestic honours.

The Celtic boss is due to meet the media on Thursday or Friday to preview the Scottish Cup Final, his answers will be as predictable as the excited media speculation hoping that he is about to join Spurs to leave Celtic manager-less going into the close season.

Where will Ange Postecoglou start next season?

Celtic, he is all on board, relax

Spurs, just too good to turn down

Somewhere else, it is inevitable

Tottenham are set to step up their interest in Celtic head coach Ange Postecoglou after Saturday’s Scottish Cup Final.

Postecoglou is a contender to permanently succeed Antonio Conte and is said to have impressed Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, who is leading the club’s search for a new head coach and director of football.

Among Postecoglou’s admirers at Spurs is the club’s incoming chief football officer Scott Munn, a fellow Australian who knows Postecoglou personally and is set to officially become Levy’s de facto No2 from July.

Any serious discussions with Postecoglou – who is on a 12-month rolling contract at Parkhead – will have to wait until after Celtic face Inverness in this weekend’s showpiece at Hampden Park, with the Bhoys aiming to seal an eighth domestic treble.
