Craig Moore has claimed that Micky Beale’s lucky man comment got under Ange Postecoglou’s skin.
Normally the phrase ‘under his skin’ is a reference to something that upset someone or knocked them of course, if anything Beale’s quote has reinforced the determination of the Celtic boss to deliver success.
Beale could really have got under Postecoglou’s skin by winning either cup tie at Hampden with the hoops also winning the decisive SPFL derby on April 8 to go 12 points clear and into the home stretch towards retaining the title.
The former Yokohama F Marinos boss has taken everything that Scottish football has thrown at him in his stride with a trophy count that no-one would have predicted two years ago.
Discussing Postecoglou’s mini-speech after the win over Aberdeen on Go Radio, the Daily Record reports Moore saying:
It must have got under his skin a little bit (the lucky man comment) because it is not the first time he’s brought it up. For me, I think that Michael Beale didn’t mean any harm in his use of the word at the time.
Maybe, getting caught sometimes you go down rabbit holes and say a little bit too much but I don’t think there was malice in his comments, but Ange has played on it.
He has used it for inspiration, motivation and even for a little bit of a point in the speech at the end of the season, didn’t he?
Moore was part of Postecoglou’s coaching team at the 2014 World Cup Finals in Brazil.
I fink that moores talking s- -t – ???
Like an Aussie Boomerang made of solid silver it came straight back at Beale and smacked him square in the jaw on Trophy day.
As it will the next and the next.
They will be apoplectic should we secure a World Record 8th Treble this week.
Talk is cheap after all ,let your actions do your talking.
I don’t think it got under his skin, it has however been reversed and is now lodged under Beale the forever.
Ange is very good at reverse psychology.
