Ryan Jack won’t turn his back on Scotland to satisfy angry Ibrox fans.

Since signing from Aberdeen in July 2017 the midfielder has started just 101 SPFL matches with a further 19 appearances off the bench.

When fit Jack walks straight into Steve Clarke’s international squad. Despite the presence of Callum McGregor, John McGinn, Billy Gilmore, Stuart Armstrong, Ryan Christie and Scott McTominay the Ibrox midfielder has picked up 19 international caps.

Jack signed a 12 month contract earlier this month but the 31-year-old believes that he is in shape for the 11 month season demanded to play for club and country:

Addressing criticism of his continued international presence he told the Daily Record:

Look, it doesn’t bother me. It doesn’t bother me one bit. I know what I can give every day to the club, to my team-mates and to the manager. I know what I can bring to the team on a match day and I back myself with that. The manager backs me on it, too.

That’s the most important thing. Whatever anyone else says on the outside, I can’t influence it. So I just focus on what matters to me.

Jack has picked up two winners medals in six years at Ibrox, in the season just ended he started 19 SPFL matches with a further seven appearances off the bench.
