Dermot Desmond appears to have made an unexpected midweek visit to Celtic Park sparking speculation that some significant business could be about to take place.

The Irish businessman is the biggest individual shareholder in the club but takes little to do with the day to day running of the club with the Executive’s well aware of Desmond’s expectations.

Only on the biggest of matchdays is Desmond likely to be in Glasgow such as cup finals, derby matches or Champions League ties.

It is more than a decade since he has attended the Celtic AGM although his son Ross, on the right of Ange Postecoglou has turned up at the last few without making any comment.

The most obvious big announcement at this stage would be a new contract for Postecoglou but the Celtic boss seems very content with the 12-month rolling deal that he signed in June 2021 when he took over from Neil Lennon.

The USPGA tournament begins at Oak Hill tomorrow, running through until Sunday.
