Since Arne Slot rejected an approach from Spurs to sign a new, improved contract at Feyenoord the Scottish media has been in a heightened state of excitement speculating that Ange Postecoglou is about to take charge of the London club.

A couple of speculative stories on Thursday from English newspaper reporters was all of the evidence that they needed that Postecoglou would leave Celtic, opening the door for Micky Beale to win his first ever trophy.

Postecoglou’s Friday lunchtime interview with Sky Sports News covered a few warm up questions before Gordon Duncan got to the nitty gritty of the Spurs job.

Later on, hosting Super Scoreboard on Radio Clyde there was only one topic of conversation with Duncan sharing some of the theories that he hadn’t put to the Celtic manager while he was collecting a fee from Sky Sports.

Strangely there is barely a mention on today’s English back pages of Postecoglou joining Spurs, it seems that they have some real issues to deal with such as transfers, relegation, cup finals and the £140m EPL Play Off today at Wembley.

BBC Gossip covers 16 stories, two involving possible Tottenham transfers but not a single mention of Postecoglou.

Meanwhile the Daily Record are all over their dream move as they look to ambush Celtic collecting their second trophy of the season with the live prospect (nightmare scenario) of an eighth treble to come next Saturday.
