Voting has now closed for the Sevco Player of the Year Awards with the final touches being put together for the main event on May 21.

Borna Barisic has emerged as a strong contender for the top award although his role in Jota’s Hampden goal is likely to see James Tavernier scoop another pointless award.

After a season of out and out misery the glitzy do at New Edinburgh House is likely to be the ultimate damp squib- falling in the centre of Celtic’s party season as the hoops prepare to overtake the trophy haul of the old Rangers club that went into liquidation in 2012.

Last year Giovanni van Bronckhorst was the star of the show but this years event will be most sombre as a number of legendary figures such as Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Jack, Allan McGregor, Scot Arfield, Filip Helander and Steven Davis walk away.

Entertainment will be provided by Andy Cameron with Tom English and David Tanner sharing MC duties, the event will be free to watch for MyGers members with over 1,967 points from this season.
