‘Ibrox is bouncing’ The video clip that shames Ian Crocker and Sky Sports

Ian Crocker is well used to the special circumstances of Scottish football, he has been providing live television commentary for more than 20 years.

As recently as 2019 UEFA twice closed sections of Ibrox due to discriminatory/racist chanting from the home supporters. In reaction to that the club quickly put together Everyone, Anyone to show what an inclusive lot they really are. The timeline confirmed that it was a box ticking exercise.

In 2006 UEFA specifically banned one song heard at Ibrox, fines followed as supporters thought that they could get away with it.

Crocker really should be well aware of that background, on Saturday at Ibrox he wasn’t some novice commentator drafted in and overawed by ‘the wall of noise’. He heard a certain chant and commented positively on it, there was enthusiasm in his voice.

When the odd swear word from supporters reaches the airwaves Crocker and other commentators are quick to apologise to anyone that heard something offensive.

On Saturday swearing and discriminatory chanting from the overwhelming majority of the fans inside Ibrox was pumped directly into households by Sky Sports.

No apology was offered, instead Crocker complimented it with ‘Ibrox is rocking’. The failure to correct or comment on that incident since Saturday afternoon says plenty about the official broadcast partner of the SPFL.

Over the last couple of seasons two inappropriate chants have emerged from Celtic supporters, those chants need to be cut out as quickly as possible. The last thing that is needed is that they are complimented by a Sky Sports commentator.
