Incredible price tag placed on Celtic linked winger

The cost of Levi Garcia has apparently soared from £1.9m to £13.5m on the back of three seasons at AEK Athens.

Celtic have been linked with the goal-scoring winger but it is hard to see business being done at that sort of fee.

AEK Athens signed Garcia from Beitar Jerusalem in the summer of 2020 on a five year deal which would make this summer the ideal time to cash in on an asset.

Discussing Garcia late on Wednesday night The Sun reported:

Standing at 6ft, the powerful hitman looks set to leave AEK at the end of the season with over FOURTEEN teams said to be interested in the wideman.

The Trinidad and Tobago international joined the Greek side for around £1.9million from Beitar Jerusalem in 2020 and still has two years remaining on his current deal.

And AEK are reportedly keen on off-loading the forward in the summer to make a healthy profit, but Celtic have been dealt a blow in the race to sign him.

It’s being suggested by Sportime journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos that the Greek giants are holding out for around €15million for the player, leaving a deal for Celtic unlikely.

He tweeted: “AEK Athens will not consider any offer for their striker Levi García, for less than €15m.”

It’s understood that Garcia, who has eight goals in 36 appearances for Trinidad and Tobago, has been eyed as a potential replacement for Liel Abada, whose future at Parkhead remains uncertain.

Chorianopoulos has been an accurate source of news on Vasilis Barkas and Giorgos Giakoumakis.

Garcia certainly looks like the type of direct, goal scoring winger that would fit in with Ange Postecoglou’s style of play but with Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers the record signings under Postecoglou at £6m spending double that figure on a player seems to be a stretch.

Over the last three transfer windows Postecoglou has got the majority of his signings completed early with that pattern expected to be in place for the summer.

The Greek club sound like a club related to sevco one good season from a player and they go from a €2 million value to €15 million.

You know who the Sporting director is at AEK ? Our old friend Bruno Alves … you know the Portuguese fella that was coming to take the title with Pedro !
