Micky Beale is lining up another Championship swoop with Morgan Whittaker the latest target.

Swansea rejected three January bids for the winger but barely played Whittaker after he returned from his loan spell at Plymouth.

Russell Martin made it clear that he wanted the 22-year-old to remain in Wales but with the former Scotland defender expected to become the next Southampton manager the situation could change.

Football Scotland reports:

Rangers remain interested in Swansea winger Morgan Whittaker this summer.

The 22-year-old was the subject of three separate bids from the Ibrox club back in January as they desperately tried to get a deal over the line for the playmaker. A move could not be forced through, though, but Michael Beale has retained a like for the player who spent time on loan at League One champions Plymouth Argyle this year.

Football Scotland understands Gers would be willing to lodge another bid for Whittaker as Beale continues his summer transfer overhaul that has already brought Kieran Dowell and Dujon Sterling to Glasgow.

Whittaker started two Championship matches for Swansea with a further 13 appearances off the bench, his contract runs until June 2025 meaning that Beale would need to offer a realistic transfer fee.
